Culvert View
This surreal image was constructed in Photoshop by combining five separate photos. The culvert is actually quite large and the rest of the elements were scaled and manipulated in other ways to make them work together. I thought of adding the woman in the culvert after the fact, so we went back to the culvert and I took some more shots of her in it holding the flowers.
This photo montage was also created with Photoshop. I used a few duplicate images mirrored, changing the scale of the tree to add more depth. I added the driver as an afterthought when I realized the loaders looked funny without one. So, I found a photo of a friend that would work well and added him to the montage.
This photo was taken on Syracuse University's Environmental Science and Forestry land in Truxton, NY. Using Photoshop I pieced together five separate photos to show my friend and his dog navigating their way through the early spring swamp.
This photo was taken at Little York Lake, NY. There is a channel that joins this lake and Goodale lake that runs under Interstate 81 and the railroad tracks. You can access the shore of this channel at Dwyer Park. This crayfish was in a foot of water so I hovered over him for a while untill he got used to me. He then made his way closer and I took several shots--this is one of them. It's hard to tell from the way that this photo came out that the crayfish is really under water!
Abandoned
This photo was taken just off of Route 11 between Little York and Preble, NY. The house has been abandoned for years. I wanted to increase the eerieness so I adjusted the color and contrast using Camera Raw in Photoshop. I like how the second story window seems to have a white figure looking out. It's really just a hole in the roof or wall beyond the window.
I took this photo early one morning after a snowstorm. I snowshoed onto New York state land near my house. I found this path and liked how the sun lit it up.
For this photo I combined four shots using Photoshop to get this scene of Little York Lake. I then added a friend's dog for some humor. The dog had been playing frisbee that day so I used one of those shots.
Guitar Abstraction
This rather abstract image was taken in my band room. I really enjoy the short depth of field that you can get by closing in on subjects. This creates a blurred background that seems much more interesting to me then when everything is in focus.
Pine Tree Trunks
This photo of pine tree trunks was taken on public land in upstate NY. I like how the sunlight on the few trunks in the background seperates them from the others.
This last image was again created in Photoshop with five separate photos. Combining photos like this allows for a panoramic view you can not get without special equipment. It's my friend's front yard taken from his dock.
